    Alltel Phone

My frickin phone has been on 1X since Friday and I can't get it to go back to 1XEV. It is draining my battery and I have to charge twice a day right now. Anybody got a clue how to get it back. I have tried restarting, taking the battery out, nothing..... I don't want to have to go up to the store because well you are lucky to get out of there in 2 hours. Any clue before I make the dreaded trip up there.

Try dialing star 2 2 8 and updating your roaming service. Worked for me

    Re: Alltel Phone

It's a problem with the tower, and Alltel has a trouble ticket outstanding on it but still hasn't fixed the problem. My advice: Call Alltel customer service and complain. 1-800-ALLTEL1. The more people who complain, the quicker they'll step to it. We had the same problem in late December and it took about a week to get it fixed. From what I understand, they just need to "reset" the tower, kind of like how I sometimes need to unplug my wireless router, let it rest for about 30 seconds and plug it back in.

I tried the *228 thing to no avail. Tried the same thing in December.

    Re: Alltel Phone

I remember it happening to the phones a few months ago but figured it was something different this time because my wifes phone is fine. Just mine..... I tried the *228 and it didn't work for me either. I will be calling shortly.

    Re: Alltel Phone

Cool. Tell us what they say. Mine's been acting up since last Tuesday and it's about to drive me batty. If they've figured out a phone-by-phone way to fix the problem, I'll want to call them back!
